Hugh Baird College, Principal and Chief Executive, Yana Williams is to leave the College and move on to a new role as Chief Executive Officer at Coleg Cambria in North Wales at the end of the calendar year.

In announcing the news of her departure to colleagues at the College, Ms Williams said:

After almost 8 years as Principal and Chief Executive at Hugh Baird College, I have taken the difficult decision to move on to a new role that I will take up in January 2020.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hugh Baird College. All those involved with the organisation demonstrate outstanding commitment and passion to the development of our students. This results in many students moving on to successful careers across the Liverpool City Region and beyond. In addition, I believe the College truly is at the heart of the local community and has a massively positive impact on the lives of so many.

I can say without hesitation, that this has been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. The College is in a good position with quality teaching and financially stability. Therefore, when accepting this new role, I am confident I am leaving the College on a strong platform for a new incoming Principal and Chief Executive to take the College to the next level.

David Crosby, Chair of Governors at Hugh Baird College, paid tribute to Ms Williams and thanked her for her strong leadership, innovative thinking and achievements over the last 8 years:

Yana has led the College on a journey of quality-based growth which has resulted in Hugh Baird College being recognised both regionally and nationally for its innovation and creativity. Whilst we will be sad to see Yana go, we all wish her every success and happiness in her new role at Coleg Cambria. There is now an exciting opportunity for her successor to lead a successful College on to the next stage of its journey to become outstanding in all aspects of its operation and delivery.
