There’s a lot going on during National Apprenticeships Week from Monday 4th to Friday 8th March 2019 to showcase the exciting opportunities for those interested in choosing apprenticeships as the first step for their career, and for those looking for career progression with their current roles.

Wirral Met is working with Magenta Living to provide opportunities for Wirral Met’s level two construction students to progress onto prestigious apprenticeships with Magenta Living.  During National Apprenticeships Week, the Magenta Living team will meet 25 electrical, carpentry/joinery and plastering students who will be starting their work placements in Magenta Living from Monday 11th March.  The students will take part in two weeks’ work experience after which they will attend interviews to compete for the five apprenticeships being offered by Magenta Living from June 2019, once the students have completed their study programmes.  The top five students will become apprentices who will initially earn £8/hour, well above the national apprentice wage, before progressing to higher paid positions as their apprenticeship programmes progress.

In January 2019, Wirral Met launched a level two Healthcare Science apprenticeship with Liverpool Clinical Laboratories and they will be offering an exciting new level 4 Healthcare Science apprenticeship in April 2019.  Whilst the Healthcare Science apprentices are out of the laboratories studying towards their qualifications on day release each week, Wirral Met’s Health and Social Care students are taking their places, gaining valuable work experience in the laboratories whilst providing continuity of cover for their employers.

Wirral Met has a number of current apprenticeship vacancies available where apprentices will work for local employers and NHS Foundation Trusts – for more details, click here

For those aged 16-24 who are not quite ready for an apprenticeship, and who do not have a level three qualification, Wirral Met, working with local employers, is offering Traineeships which are pre-apprenticeship programmes.  Currently, there are vacancies with local NHS Trusts who are offering placements in clinical and non-clinical roles, Rise ‘n’ Grind in Wallasey who are offering a traineeship as a Commis Chef with an opportunity to progress to a Commis Chef apprenticeship, and The White Owl Eatery in Thurstaston for a hospitality apprenticeship.
