Suzanne Grant has been promoted to the role of Commercial Director at Merseyrail following 5 successful years as Head of Marketing & CSR with the rail operator. During this time, Suzanne led the team responsible for revenue growth, producing the award-winning Wirral Track Renewal information campaign and delivering many of the community projects that Merseyrail has established across the City Region.

The Commercial Director will oversee several departments including stations, revenue protection and marketing & CSR, with a focus on delivering a positive passenger experience and optimising revenue streams for the business.

Following the announcement of her appointment, effective from July 9, Suzanne Grant said: “This is such an exciting time to be at Merseyrail. I’m proud to have been involved in helping move the business forward over the past few years to become a nationally recognised provider of high quality service. The most important thing within Merseyrail are our customers and I’m passionate about making sure that more than ever we put them at the heart of what we do as a business. I’m looking forward to taking on this new role and to building on the success of the past few years.”

Commenting on the internal appointment, Andy Heath, Managing Director said: “I’m really pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne as our new Commercial Director. Suzanne has been part of our management team since 2012 when she joined Merseyrail in the role of Marketing Manager. As a business we are keen to identify and nurture talent internally and, as in the case of Suzanne, offer progression opportunities for employees who demonstrate the aptitude, commitment and ambition. With Suzanne’s appointment 50% of Merseyrail’s Board of Directors are now female which again is testament to our strong focus and commitment to diversity. I am confident that Suzanne will be a success in her new role and I know that all of my directors will join me in welcoming her on to the board.”

Merseyrail has increased its investment in its own staff over recent years as it looks to recognise and develop employees to their full potential. The company has also delivered an internal training programme aimed at equipping high performing members of staff with the skills they would need to reach a management level position.
