Five catering and hospitality students from Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School are preparing to make their way to the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Birmingham later this month to support the Association of Colleges (AoC) Annual Conference.

Alex Dean, Laura Yates, Daniel Clair, Sam Burke and Amanda Fox are studying on a range of hospitality courses offered at the Hotel School and hope ultimately to work in Liverpool’s exciting and ever growing visitor economy.

The AoC Annual Conference will see senior post holders from colleges from across the country converge on the ICC to discuss and debate the Further Education sector, hear from keynote speakers and enjoy one of the forty two breakout sessions on offer over the packed three day event.

The students will be based in the ICC kitchens where they will undertake a range of front of house activities and in the kitchens where they will be creating a range of dishes for delegates.

Speaking before the event, Hugh Baird College Study Programme Lead, John Kendal said:

“This is another example of the outstanding career orientated work experience placements our students enjoy.”

“Thanks to experiences such as this one at the AoC Conference, we are ensuring that our students are developing not only the skills required to shine in industry, but also the correct work related attitudes and traits that are so important to employers.”

“I would like to thank the AoC for this opportunity and look forward to hearing from the students when they return from the conference.”
