Help STFC to make a difference to the long term competitiveness of the Chemistry and Materials sector in the North West region

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) are seeking 15 minutes of your time to help them secure Government investment of £25m into the Chemistry and Materials sector.

Digital technologies such as AI, automation and advanced data analysis are already revolutionising the productivity of businesses. STFC are working on a bid to secure funding to set up a North West programme to accelerate adoption of these digital technologies by businesses within the Chemistry and Materials sectors.

The Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Hartree Centre, together with the University of Liverpool and partners in Manchester including the Royce Institute, are collaborating on a proposal to develop an innovation support initiative, to assist industry located across the M56/M62 corridor, stretching from the Liverpool City Region, through to Cheshire/Warrington and Greater Manchester. The aim of the project is to support the take-up and deployment of AI-enabled tools, techniques and processes in the Advanced Materials’ business base and supply chain.

The bid proposes a service mix, open to companies of all sizes, to undertake materials-based innovation faster and cheaper by improving business’ access to cutting-edge combinations of Artificial Intelligence and automated materials formulation and simulation services. This promises to deliver a step-change increase in the agility and competitiveness of the multiple materials supply chains.

STFC have progressed through the preliminary stages of a funding bid are keen to hear how best the proposed service can align with businesses needs and wants.
