Liverpool City Region business leaders met with Greg Clark MP and Lord Heseltine this week (Thursday, 27 February, 2014) to outline their strong ambition to boost the City Region’s economy and create jobs.

Chair of the Liverpool City Region LEP Robert Hough presented to Government and was joined by Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson and Councillor Phil Davies, Leader of Wirral Council alongside Kath Boullen (Chief Executive of St. Helens Chamber of Commerce) and Bernard Molloy, Chair of the City Region SUPERPORT Committee.

Commenting on the meeting LEP Chair Robert Hough said: “Today was a significant step in articulating the City Region’s exciting growth potential and especially the potential of the City Centre, of the development of a Freight and Logistics Hub for the City Region, and our ambitions to be centre for Low Carbon Energy generation.

“We presented a coherent and sequenced set of investments that we believe will help stimulate job growth and which will support a rebalancing of the national economy. We absolutely believe that investing in our economy is the right thing for Government to do to help drive growth and jobs throughout the City Region and the North of England.”

The meeting will help inform how Government decides to allocate the £2 billion Local Growth Fund between the 39 LEP areas in the country.

“The meeting provided us with invaluable feedback and will help us to make the best possible case about the City Region when we submit our final version of our Growth Plan in March,” added Robert.
