Advanced manufacturing lies at the heart of Liverpool City Region’s ambitions for economic growth, says Business Secretary Vince Cable.

The Secretary of State will address more than 250 representatives from the City Region’s manufacturing, research and innovation sectors at a major conference in the City on Thursday. (31 October)

The event is the culmination of the Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Making It project  – mapping opportunities for growth in the sector over the next decade and beyond.

Ahead of the event at Liverpool John Moores University, the Minister said: “The economy is showing signs of recovery but there is still a long way to go and the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership has an important role to play in taking the local area forward.

“The LEP has demonstrated a clear commitment to advanced manufacturing in the Liverpool City Region, placing it at the heart of it’s growth ambitions. The Making It conference brings together many of the partners that will work with the LEP to help it compete for investment, growth and jobs.”

The Making It Conference also includes an exhibition by many of  City Region’s major manufacturers.
