LJMU and Professional Liverpool have signed a landmark partnership deal to promote professional excellence and business growth in the Liverpool City Region.

The collaboration, which will drive forward business, education and research initiatives, will focus on opportunities like Degree Apprenticeships, showing how they can benefit City Region businesses as highly-skilled employees gain both academic qualifications and on-the-job experience.

It will also allow more organisations the chance to see how the academic expertise and international network of the Liverpool Business School can offer practical business solution for growth and performance.

Entrepreneurship will also be a key area, with student and graduate entrepreneurs finding extensive support through the development of links with Professional Liverpool members. This will build on initiatives like The Bathgate partnership , which includes targeted support for sandwich year students embarking on self-employed placements, alongside a wide range of self-employment opportunities.

Dr Edward Harcourt, LJMU Pro-Vice-Chancellor for External Engagement commented on the opportunities the partnership will offer:

“While the University already taps into the rich professional networks associated with Professional Liverpool, today’s agreement signals the start of a new strategic approach to collaborating in a number of areas – from providing students with mentors and internship placements to advising businesses on degree apprenticeships and scale-up services coming on line in the Liverpool Business School.”

Professional Liverpool is an exciting organisation with a clear objective – to promote professional excellence in Liverpool and the City Region and to enhance its reputation as a financial and professional centre of excellence.

Steve Stuart, a Corporate Financer and an Ambassador of Professional Liverpool, commented:

“The partnership between Liverpool John Moores University and Professional Liverpool is an exciting opportunity for local businesses to enjoy contact with a university and see just how much academia has to offer. I am sure there will be many active and supportive partnerships linking between business, education and research, as well as international relationships and networks. This should ensure lasting business performance improvements in the City of Liverpool Region.”
