Liverpool City Region is unique in that our LEP area includes three Enterprise Zones:- Mersey Waters Liverpool City Sci-Tech Daresbury All three Enterprise Zones were identified due to their unique potential to generate economic growth for the region. A range of investment and development opportunities exist within each zone including site specific and sector related investment opportunities. The Zones have established delivery programmes working with public and private sector partners and the LEP and aim to capitalise on the economic advantages the North West region has to offer. The zones were established in 2012 and run for 25 years until 2027. Mersey Waters EZ Mersey Waters EZ straddles the River Mersey and covers the Liverpool Waters and Wirral Waters areas. Extending across a combined area of 125 hectares, the zone is one of the largest nationally. Sector specific development opportunities include, energy and marine sectors and supply chain opportunities, advanced manufacturing, financial and professional services and digital technologies as well as new offices and residential space. Liverpool City EZ Recognizing Liverpool City centre as a key driver in the revitalisation of the city region, this zone aims to exploit the economic assets and opportunities to deliver future growth. Liverpool City region is a distinctive brand with a vibrant cultural, heritage and leisure offer. The visitor economy has performed strongly over recent years supported by continued investment in our assets. Liverpool City EZ aims to support and bring forward continued business expansion and investment into Liverpool capitalising on its business clusters and centres of excellence and help develop new employment opportunities. Sci-tech Daresbury Sci-Tech Daresbury, as one of two national science and innovation campuses, is recognized nationally and internationally. It is world-renowned for its capabilities in ‘Big Science’ where companies can access world class scientific equipment and expertise in areas such as intense computing, big data analytics, accelerator science and nuclear physics. Its status as an Enterprise Zone provides a unique opportunity to significantly grow the campus to an expected 10,000-15,000 people. Integral to the advancement of the city region’s status as an innovation science and creativity hub, this zone works with Universities and corporates such as IBM, Unilever and BAe Systems. These strategic partnerships deliver significant technology and business breakthroughs, both accelerating the growth of businesses within the region’s key sectors and supporting the skills development critical to long-term success.
