Atlantic Gateway is a partnership that crosses the Liverpool City Region LEP, Greater Manchester LEP, and Cheshire and Warrington LEP areas. The focus is of the Partnership is on co-ordination of LEP activities in freight and logistics infrastructure, and in ensuring that the science base of the LEPs work with one another to match the strength of the South East. Government has repeatedly recognised that that the combination of assets across this geography is is stimulant for nationally important growth and Atlantic Gateway is a partnership that Government recognises as critically important to a rebalancing of the national economy. The Liverpool City Region leads on freight and logistics growth which is being enabled by infrastructure investment such as the Liverpool 2 project (£300m+) and the up to £700m of investment secured by the Liverpool City Region LEP from the national Road Investment Strategy. The Atlantic Gateway Board includes representation from the three LEP areas and is majority private sector led with Kate Willard, LEP Board member and Deputy Chair of Superport , as its Chair.
