LCR Activate

LCR Activate is a 3-year, £5million ERDF co-funded project led by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in partnership with the Federation of Art and Creative Technology (FACT) and the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LCR LEP), that commenced in Autumn 2017.

It provides dedicated technical and business support for product development and commercialisation, helping small and medium-sized digital and creative businesses benefit from big science and new technologies.

It will lever the world class capabilities at STFC’s Hartree Centre and other key innovation assets across the Liverpool City Region to drive innovation and accelerate growth. LCR Activate will assist businesses to solve their challenges via the application of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, High Performance Computing, Merging Data, and Cloud technologies. It will also work alongside a range of other business support and scale-up projects within the Local Growth Hub.

Specific project targets by July 2020 are:

  • 150 enterprises receiving support and co-operating with research institutions
  • 51 new products developed
  • 34 grants awarded for product development
  • 59 additional jobs in higher value industries secured

Who can benefit?

Businesses in the Liverpool City Region (the local authority areas of Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral) that are small to medium-sized enterprises by EU definitions (employing less than 250 people, turning over less than 50,000,000 euros and with a balance sheet of under 43,000,000 euros) that operate in the Digital and Creative sector.
