Liverpool’s landscape is changing with new developments taking place across the city region.

The flagship £2bn Knowledge Quarter will transform the city but it’s not the only show in town.

Liverpool’s New Chinatown could finally be developed; major residential schemes are planned for Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle and across the region; while developer Capital & Centric has ambitious plans to turn the former Littlewoods Building into a new centre for film, television, digital and associated industries.

Building work stalled on the new £335m Royal Liverpool Hospital after the collapse of Carillion in February but the city’s universities have picked up the construction baton with ambitious plans of their own.

But where are all the construction workers coming from and could the shortage undermine the region and even push up costs?

These are some of the questions that will be answered by our LCR Construction Skills summit when leading figures from the worlds of construction business, education, local authority and politics will be coming together to discuss the scale of the problem and what can be done to tackle it.

BusinessCloud has joined forces with Progress to Excellence Group to look at how Liverpool City Region can ensure its construction story is not derailed.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Asif Hamid MBE, CEO, The Contact Company
  • Sandra Kirkham, group MD, Progress to Excellence Group
  • Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor, Liverpool City Region
  • Mark Basnett, MD, Liverpool City Region LEP
