The LCR Employment and Skills team sit withing Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and provide transparent and accountable strategic decision making for employment and skills functions.

Cllr Ian Maher is the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Portfolio Lead for Employment and Skills.

Skills for Growth builds on the City Region’s Employment and Skills Strategy and other strategic priorities. Skills for Growth articulates insight from local employers to support local training providers in delivering the skills that will help the City Region’s residents and businesses take advantage of growth opportunities, increase their productivity levels and meet their economic potential.

The Skills for Growth Priorities 2015/16 alongside specific Skills for Growth Agreements will support and further challenge existing curriculum planning within the context of our local economy and its opportunities for growth.

The Employment and Skills Board is the lead strategic voice on skills across the City Region and acts on behalf of the LEP and Combined Authority to provide strategic leadership on employment and skills in the City Region. It is comprised of business members (reflecting the LEP’s key economic growth sectors), the Employment and Skills Portfolio Holder in each local authority area and representatives from key UK Government agencies/ stakeholders responsible for employment and skills activities locally.
