Edge Hill University is based in a stunning campus environment and has provided higher education for 130 years with an ethos of opportunity through excellence.

The institution’s significant success in achieving its mission is recognised by a range of awards and high rankings for teaching, student experience, accommodation and more. Edge Hill is ranked as Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the government’s evaluation of excellence in teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes. The University is also one of the select few to have held the coveted UK University of the Year title, awarded by Times Higher Education (2014/15).

The University also won Best University Workplace in a 2015 survey of staff at UK universities by the same publication. The latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) results show the high quality and impactful nature of our research with World Leading, Internationally Excellent or Internationally Recognised work across all areas.

Recent successes include being ranked in the top 10 for teaching by the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, top in the North West for student experience (Times Higher Education 2017), and top in the UK for student accommodation in the 2017 WhatUni Awards.

In our peer group of the 60+ modern, diversified universities we are top in England in the WhatUni 2017 University of the Year rankings, as well as in the Courses and Lecturers and Facilities categories. Edge Hill also comes top in the UK for student support (WhatUni 2017) and social mobility (CentreForum, 2014).Within the North West we are the safest campus (Complete University Guide 2016) and the highest-ranked institution for student satisfaction in a wide range of National Student Survey categories and subjects (NSS 2016).

Our strengths in employability are demonstrated by 95.5% of our full time first degree graduates finding work or further study within six months of graduating (HESA), and reinforced by awards including a top ten shortlisting in the National Graduate Recruitment Awards (TARGETjobs 2017).

The last decade has seen investment of £250m on its campus which includes Creative Edge, a £17m media, music and computing facility, a £30m sports complex and a £13m Technology Hub home to the Cave, the UK’s first super immersive 3D virtual environment.

The academic community comprises over 10,000 full time undergraduate and postgraduate students, a further 6,000 on part time and professional development programmes and nearly 4,000 staff. Edge Hill also boasts strong levels of graduate employment, with 95% of full-time degree students finding work or further study within six months of graduating, which places the University in the top eight public universities in England (HESA 2015).
