‘The Edge’ will run alongside the main festival from 13 June – 1 July, and will be a creative programme of events and activities all designed to ensure that businesses in the city region get maximum benefits from the festival.

Supported by the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, The Edge will run three main types of events: conversations with….., how to’s and provocations. In addition to these, there will be the inaugural Edge Awards launched on June 13 and Club Edgy – the hottest ticket in town!

The launch will take place on Thursday 28 April at the Radisson Blu, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, from 5pm. Speakers include Kate Willard – The Edge, Festival Director, Ian McCarthy – IFB2016, Festival Director, Ged Fitzgerald – Chief Executive, Liverpool City Council, and sponsors Grant Thornton.

Some of ‘The Edge’ calendar highlights include ‘Rock n Roll Politics – Europe’, taking place two days before the EU referendum, political columnist, Steve Richards (New Statesman, BBC, The Independent) will present his one man show about Europe, and facilitate a session with Alan Johnson MP (running Labour’s yes campaign). Also, ‘The Edge IFB2016 Robot Challenge’ – a brand new robotics challenge for schools; alongside events focusing on E-Business, the Internet of Things and renewable energy.

There will be over 35 events in total, right across the city, and will cover many other subjects such as the Northern Powerhouse, business growth, tax relief and modern philanthropy.

Kate Willard, The Edge Festival Director, said: “I am delighted to be leading The Edge. Its values and brand have already gained real traction with businesses across the City Region.

“This calendar of events is looking fantastic! With many business angles covered there really is something to attract everyone. I’m really looking forward to lots of interesting debates, hearing some fantastic speakers and for businesses to get the very most out of IFB2016.”
